04  ·  The History & The Evolution

"What was Jamaican becomes global. What was workwear becomes luxury. This is The Tivoli Tote."

1960s – 70s

The Rude Boy Era

The string vest arrived in the Caribbean and was immediately reclaimed. Rebellious Jamaican rude boys wore it as a statement outer layer — a deliberate act of defiance against colonial dress codes. Utility became resistance.

Cultural Adoption

The Sound of Jamaica

Bob Marley. Gregory Isaacs. The Mesh Marina moved from the streets into music — worn under open button-downs by reggae's most iconic voices. What began as workwear became a symbol of creative freedom.

Now

The Evolution

What was once worn close to the skin is now carried on the shoulder — a Jamaican essential reimagined for the world. Heritage intact. Future forward.

Blue Lagoon Blue
Lagoon

Named for the mythic waters of Portland. Deep, still, and impossible to ignore.

Sunset Orange Sunset
Orange

The Caribbean sky just before night. Our Creative Director's favourite hour at the beach.

Soursop Green Soursop
Green

From the fruit in every Jamaican yard. Earthy, alive, rooted in the island's landscape.

Carry the
Culture.
